PA Soft Gurus: Energy Saving Mode

How do you change Energy Saving mode (transport) to normal mode in PA Soft?

I keep getting this error in the ZKE.

I have no interior light, sunroof inop and central lock system doesn’t work when pressing the center console button.

When I insert the key in the driver door and turn, car locks and unlocks in synchrony. Key fob also works to unlock trunk when pressing the trunk button in the key fob.

I have already disconnect both battery leads and touched them together for an hour.

That 'short the cables' thing is 90% (note I don't say 100%, but...still... 90%...) old wives tale. The vast majority of modern modules don't "need to have the capacitors drained in order to cold boot" or whatever horseshirt somebody is saying. Unless something is borked a 5minute battery disconnect is the same thing.

Also, FWIW, on the E39 the body module is generally called the "GM"... even though its called "ZKE" more commonly on E46...

I've never messed with Transport Mode stuff. But from what I see, it was only introduced starting 2002 model year... And you need to use DIS to deactivate it. That may mean you can also find a job for it in Tool32 but Tool32 is ugly and cryptic to use.... And I wouldn't be surprised if its unsupported by PASoft.

However. A quick google tells me that "Transport Mode" error is often a symptom of a GM hardware failure. So you might just grab a replacement GM and recode it (need NCSExpert for that, or, you can risk that using PASoft to do an EEPROM read and restore works and doesn't brick the new one... frankly I'd use NCSExpert every time)

I do not klnow much about PASoft. But if you install INPA software, and if you have a K+DCAN cable, you should be able to disable the "transport mode".

Yeah. Supposedly need DIS actually not INPA. But look further. Like I said, most incidents of that seem to turn out to be hardware problems.

Yes, and so many guys and engineers think that any hardware problem can be somehow solved via a software trick...

    Problem solved:

I put a third GM in the car and all my features came back. I guess the second GM that I put in was also bad like the first.

Nice, a hardwear fix. Didn't need to beat your head against the wall learning new software.
I haven't seen any transport mode in INPA.

Transport mode it's only activable/deactivable via DIS. And generally speaking when E39 cars give the "transport mode" code, they're having hardware problems with the GM as all folks stated above. Have yet to see an E39 with an actual transport mode issue.

Yeah I think its a DIS thing, or, you can delve into Tool32 as I said but that is U-G-L-Y.

There is this dude who repairs modules. People seem to like him, I have no experience but one or two of the 'bad hardware transport mode' threads mention this guy fixing the module for them. At the moment used GM's are cheap and plentiful but if they start failing more, maybe a 'rebuild' will be more attractive...
