Passenger under carpet junction box removal

So today I posted electrical issues regarding my car (01 525i) I narrowed it down to ignition switch and passenger floor water damage. Of course it turned out to be the water damage so my next question is how do I go about removing this junction box due to its location should I just purchase a new non corrosion and rust covered one or should I just to refurbish mine. Also what is the typical route the water travels due to this leak? Thanks

depends on the damage...used ones can be found online in good shape...repairs can be made if its not too bad.posting a pic would help. usually the seat can be loosened in the back, unbolted in the front and leaned back after sliding it back all the way.

Be sure to disconnect the battery before dissecting this stuff. Esp. if it involves the seat sensor or any airbag connectors.

PS: Cause is likely vapor barrier in the door, search forum for that.

I like the "I narrowed it down". Ha. "We straight up told him it was one of those two things" is more like it. Most guys at least say "the dudes have told me it was one of two things..."

OP: Depends on what you find down in there really.

Did you click on the link that I gave the (nicer) guy in the other guys thread?

    Here it is again.

If your car looks like that, well, then maybe just getting a whole collection of junkyard and/or new parts is the way to go.

If its just one or two wires/fuses that have rusted then theres no reason to replace it all, and you can probably rehab it and just replace selective cable-ends and parts.

Or sunroof drains, fronts being more common/problematic than the rears which are rare.

Dude, GROW SOME THICKER SKIN!!! Busting balls is a silly past time here, GroinGrinder is probably one of the most knowledgeable and helpful doods on these pages. If he was screwing with you, believe me, he wouldn’t bother posting what he posts on here. I go off on some, because they do need a huge kick in the ass. I noticed the same thing yesterday when you started this thread, I thought back to the other thread just like GG notes, it I was too busy to turn the screws on you. Just grow some thicker skin, get the joke and laugh along, shoot, that’s really what I’m on here for, although I do regard these awesome quirky German cars very highly, Hell, E39’s to me and many of the nutjobs on here, all regard it to be the pinnacle of great cars from BMW. After the E39, BMW went to hell, and I couldn’t give a rats ass if all their stupid new engineers went and hung themselves for putting out some crappy cars wearing the BMW rounders, they all suck balls. I work on them for a living, those and Audi’s, Mercs, and Porsche’s, the BMWs and Audi’s are all junk. Pretty much every mechanic that’s been working on these cars will pretty much say the same thing, If they say otherwise, they don’t know squat about the older cars, and only know what the computer tells them.

Lol fair enough guys and I do have thick skin just rubbed off on me wrong BMW forum pickiness already idk I made a connection 😂 this is my first German car and just really wanted insight normally I would never dive into a German car (for many reasons) but this car was clean and seduced me well lol I intend to learn it up and down also potentially helping others on the forum too and get it running properly to become a very clean old school daily. And I do agree newer bmw has just as many issues as the older ones if not more so IMO I do agree the old school bmw is the way to go. Thanks Euro Losers
