Hi all. I am currently working to take an engine from a 2001 325i, and put it into my 2004 325xi. I've been looking for a write up on removing the engine from the 325xi... If anyone has a link or a write up, that would be great.
Are there any nuance's I need to he aware of when taking a non xdrive engine and putting it into an xdrive car? I'm aware that I need to swap out the oil pans. Anything g else I should know? Thanks
Last time I checked, you will also need to swap over the oil pump with the pan. Also nothing wrong with replacing all the known leak points like the oil filter housing, valve cover ect.
I don't have a write-up, but I would suggest having a look over on the E-46 page with the DIY's stuff.
P.S. Also have a look at the pump nut, for they are known for coming loose over time.
