*UPDATE: I modified a E39 jackpad to fit into front subframe, Post 29*
Does anyone know if BMW ever fitted one to the front E36 subframe? Theres a nice hole in the middle for one.
A lot of other cars seem to have them. E46 M3, E46 X drive, E39, E60, E90/E92, etc...
Im thinking of trying the E39 one and hoping it fits or is bigger so then i can drill the subframe hole for it. Has anyone ever explored this topic?

I don’t think so? But I’ve seen more than a few people use the subframe anyway.

Uh yes. I'll post a photo of my '98 when I return home. My '92 had one too.

Yes you have 2 per side a front and a rear about where the lift holes are. but the pads fall off.
Thus the new design with the locking pin on e46 a rear ( they still fit e36) you just need the jack adapter to work better
do not know why it says 94-94 because in 96 itis a 328?

Thank you gc325is. You nailed it. Not a problem here in AZ, but where there are freezing temps, the river will get hard and shrink.

I'm jealous if you can actually get a jack to your front subframe
But interested for the fun of it.
I’m confused, I jack my car up from the front subframe all the time, why do you need a jack pad to do it?

I use a cellulose composite jacking block with the approximate dimensions of 38mm x 90mm.
I need to drive up wood planks or jack one side up to fit a jack to the front subframe.
I bought a new underpanel that covers up the area. Jacking the front subframe would probably destroy or crack the plastic underpanel. I will probably try the E39 jack pad and hope/make it fit. If it does, i can make a cutout in the plastic underpanel for the jack pad.
That makes sense to me now.
For what it's worth, I use two jacks to get my car up. I have the sideskirt extension thing I use and jack up one side enough to slide my big jack under the front. Works slick and I have my car up in the air in just a couple minutes.

My OEM Jack (the one that inserts in the Side skirt) twisted on me a few years back due to trying to jack up on an incline. I got home, cut the insert off and welded it to a steel plate i bought from Home Depot and made one of these lol

Works great because and doesn't damage anything since your utilizing factory jack tunnel , and you can be fairly low since the jack doesnt physically go under the car.
I just recently replaced the four round jack pads on each corner but the main reason I jumped on this thread is because I like weird facts about our cars

You can also insert an adapter to the side skirt and gain a few inch in clearance if your car is lowered and not rusted out.

I also saw this suggestion, I think the OP wanted ... but there is no pad unlike some newer model BMW.
