    N55 cold start in Canada -42 Celsius

    Does anyone has any idea why that black smoke is comming out ? Only few first seconds

    That is the standard result of a very rich mixture, which is necessary to start a very cold engine.
    Are you gonna eat that?

    Black is unburnt fuel. Not surprised or worried for a start in temps like that. You should be plugging the car in in those temperatures though.

    These dont come with factory block heater. im thinking of aftermarket or at least oil pan heater

    Your engine will thank you. Ive come across several with aftermarket oil pan heaters.

    I second the 'black is rich and OK' and 'block heater'.
    The block heater is so important at that temp.. Simply must do it.
