    E36 sedán fender fitment?

Hey guys here’s a weird one.. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between oem front fenders for the sedan, there are two options on ecs it looks like. Pre 09/1996 production date and post 09/1996 production. I was wondering what/ if there was a difference in mounting or if there is a slight aesthetic difference. I’m buying replacements and not sure of the production date of the used ones.

Pre-facelift and facelift. If you own a US M3 sedan, there are no pre-facelift panels applicable since the first model year was 97 here.

    Edit: “used” panels... OK.

The mounting is the same. The side marker (side, not corner) cutout is different. Don’t screw this up, get the panels that are correct for your car. You have the part numbers if you know the production date changes. Plug those into ECS and note the differences.

I feel like the biggest difference would be the way the side marker light mounts into the fender. The obd1 ones have a bigger light that screws in on one side and the obd2 has the small skinny lights that just pop in. Other than that i don't think there is a difference with them actually mounting

Use www.realoem.com and the last seven of your VIN to obtain correct part numbers for your car.

Wrong. Engine diagnostics are not a correlation with body changes. OBD2 came in 96. All 96 are prefacelift.

But he is correct in that the sidemarker cutout is the only difference. The actual finder is exactly the same.

I've actually never seen a 96 e36. Seems like they were very rare that year or didn't make it to the midwest. Good to know though! i always went by the engine diagnostics since allot did change with that conversion
