Heya folks...my trusty ole '86 won't start any more after fixing a starter wire issure. Last week the starter wouldn't engage, so I poked around through the relays a bit before I realized I just needed to clean up the starter solenoid wire and stick it back on. I think I messed something else up in the process of fixing the starter wire - now it will crank, but I can't hear the injectors clicking and it doesn't fire. No fuel on the plugs after cranking. I've probably knocked another wire loose or upset a relay...
Is there an equivalent to the old Bigcoupe "no start guide" floating around? I'm going crosseyed looking at the ETM..
I've had the exact same problem. In my case it was the "start" signal wire. I believe it's a fat black wire with a yellow stripe. It sends a signal to the Motronic from the starter solenoid that you've started the car. Motronic won't start the car without that signal. On many 80s BMWs it's just a spade connection onto the starter solenoid casing, later cars were updated with an eyelet since it has a tendency to fall off the terminal.
Do you have a copy of the ETM? It's a big help for circuits like this one.
Save the manuals!

Weird - I do have an empty terminal at the top of the solenoid, but can't see any wire that would hook up to it. Looks like I have a couple wires going to the hot lead, one trigger wire, and the fat cable to the motor. I do have the ETM.
