Heated seat question

I have a 97 base model. I recently purchased a set M seats along with heated seat switches. After installing everything the heated seats do not work. The seat on the switches illuminate but the heat waves will not illuminate at all when pressed. I have not checked for power and ground yet, no multimeter on hand. I have check to make sure fuses are installed and good. Any suggestions on where to start.

Have you installed a fuse in position 4 (15amp)?

There are two fuses for the heated seats. I said that I checked them and they were both good. Pulled up a wiring diagram and found there was a relay in the system. BMW didn't list the relays along with the fuses so had to hunt down a relay diagram. Found that the relay was missing from the fuse box. Swapped the relay from the horn, they are the same, and the seat heated right.

The two fuses are listed on the under hood fuse block under heated seats. I can recall the numbers off the top of my head, 4 and 23 maybe? The relay is in the left front corner area of the relays. I have put a picture of the relay location. It should a a light greenish white color. The horn is the same relay just to right of it. If your car doesn't have it too you can swap it over for testing. Mind you, mine is a 97 and yours is a 98 some things may have changed.
