So the previous owner had installed this air filter (for whatever god-awful reason) and it's gotten pretty dirty and I want to replace it. Except, I can't identify the specific model of Spectre filter that this is. Does anyone know what it is? Can anyone confirm if it's this one I found on Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/Spectre-Perfo...tre+air+filter

Didn't know cleaning an air filter was a thing. I don't think I have any issues with Spectre filters (first time I've had one to be honest), so I'm not sure how this thing performs compared to the OEM ones. How can you tell if an air filter can be cleaned versus needs to be replaced with a new one?
The great thing about your intake is that it is sucking in really hot air from the engine compartment in to the engine. There is probably horse power loss from this set up. Remember the name cold air intake which of course yours is not
Toss it in the bin and get an original airbox
Also, if I remember correctly, these filters contain oil which can creep inside and stick to the MAF, causing MAF issues.

replace it with the OEM air filter box. Or a Dinan cold air filter setup. Note; One problem with Dinan cold air filter box on my 2004 M3 is that the drivers side headlight has to be slid out if not removed in order to get the air filter element changed (it's essentially the same as a K&N air filter element).
IF you choose to keep this hot air filter and/or replace it with another hot air filter, buy an extra element. (I did for my Dinan bit). It's a lot faster to swap in a new oiled element (Keep the clean/oiled one in a ziplock bag) than remove the dirty one, clean it, and re-oil it since the element is supposed to dry for awhile before you reoil it.
