    Replacing stock AUX fan

I am ditching the OEM aux fan to fit the intercooler I have. I have a Derale 18217 17" dual speed motor 1800/2400 CFM.

My question is if I can connect the three fan wires to the corresponding AUX fan wiring to power this. Has anyone tried this before? I'm not sure on the stock AUX fan amp draw but I would assume they are similar? If not, just up the fuse? I would like the fan switched from the 80/88 sensor just like the OEM setup.

Fuse ratings are there to protect the wiring, it’s generally not a good idea to put in a bigger fuse to stop the fuse from popping.

Fuse slot #41 for the aux fan is a 30A fuse and the derale instructions shows 30A fuse for the fan. Do you think tapping the fan into the OEM wires and not running a relay would work?

This is what I did for my track car setup w/ a spal fan. I chose the power wire from the low speed relay. Forgot what color it was.

I connected both the low speed and high speed wire together at the fan and it works perfectly fine. Runs like OEM.
