These would significantly reduce front un-sprung weight

Pair of aluminum calipers. 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano sedan Brembo calipers, just like the e21 ATE calipers, use the same 48mm pistons, all dimensions seem the same, use the same brake pads. Pic #2 is an original ATE caliper on a 1983 e21, other pics show the aluminum calipers. The Brembos have a 10mm spacer between the halves, but if that was removed they could be used with the non-vented rotors. With the spacer, they should be good for use with the 1977 vented rotors. I intend to sell these elsewhere, but if someone wants to use them on an e21 and is willing to document the install, they'd be $120 shipped. You would need to get new seals, pads, pins, etc. And if the pistons in your ATE calipers are very good, you should use them too, as these pistons have some pitting showing.

I Picked up a pair of these from a forum member a while back. Nice Upgrade, just based on corrosion resistance IMO.

You have them installed already? And since you have a '77 you must be using them with the spacer and the vented rotor? Do they line up correctly, disc centered between the pads? They sure weigh a lot less.

eh picking them up; do ya need them? I was going to rebuild and put on the shelf. Yup running these now and are awesome on our build. Car is so light don't need any more braking power with these, 77 rotors, and pfc11 race pads.

Sort of? I just picked up a set of stock vented calipers that are in decent shape, but figured it would be nice to drop weight. These tick the vented and lightweight box. I'm not trying to block your purchase though and since you saw it first it's all good.

weighed them on a cheapo luggage scale compared to the steel vented calipers
    8.5 lbs - steel
4.5 lbs - aluminum almost half the weight

Sounds good. I'm not installing what I have immediately anyway due to GRM Challenge budget constraints.

2020 season will be all about weight reduction that hasn't been addressed yet as well as rear disc and possibly turbo.

I have not shipped them yet. Can refund money, and send to the the Captain instead if that's preferable.

Captain - if you pick these up I would gladly take your current '77 vented calipers. Maybe we can make this work for everyone

    Thanks

    Very cool.

I have new calipers (according to receipts from 1.5 yeas ago) and lots of shaking during braking. I think I'd like vented rotors.

I don't think you are going to see any benefit from vented rotors on a street car. It certainly won't stop shaking during braking.

Magically okieflats was able to find another set of Brembos, so as soon as I'm able to assess what condition these are in I can give you a shout.

This sounds really interesting. Where are you finding these calipers? I can't quite imagine that there junkyards with late-80s Alfas in them.

The set that okie found for me was on ebay. There were two left calipers on ebay the other day for a decent price, but obviously you would still need the right.

OK, do they need to be from that generation of Milano sedan, or was this caliper used on other cars as well?

I think the GTV6 is another model that had them.

How much of a concern is pitting in the aluminium cylinder walls? There seem to be some crusty old calipers available for not much money, but I want to get an idea of the chances that I will end up with something that is not rebuildable.

Hard to say, I've never had that issue before with aluminum calipers even in motorcycles, but anything is possible.

They are anodized, so they don't corrode. Anodized, then I think the outside gets painted too. I looked inside the ones I sold to Jody, looked good just dark and smooth. An anodized surface full of brake fluid should not corrode.

I'm pretty late to the party here but if anybody has a set of these they don't want, I'd love to purchase a pair
