1990 cruise control will activate and work for a while and than cuts off

This is a repetitive problem. I can restart and it will work for a while.
Don't know where to begin to look for the problem

    No e30s, again :(
the switch is mounted at your brake pedal. its integrated with your brake light switch. that's a spot to check. the motor is by the air filter box, held on with the same nuts, if I remember right. there is a cable that runs to the throttle body and hooks by the accelerator cable and a wiring harness that runs into the body and hooks somewhere I cannot remember. there is also a control box and harness that plugs to the gage cluster.

for me its always been the brake pedal switch
    No e30s again.
