Symptoms, cold or hot.
Battery is good 12.2 Volts cold
Key fob not in the slot
1. On start, press the brake pedal, push the start switch, engine will try to turn but stop, and screen is red. Let go, then try again, starts fine.
2. Starts fine, but screen is red. Turn it off, try again, starts fine and screen works fine.
I think it does the same with the key fob in the slot, but have not tested it enough to say for sure. Mostly the wife drives it.
If this were an older BMW with a rotary ignition switch I'd say that would be my first culprit to look at, but not experienced with the push start switches. Does this sound like the push start switch assembly is going bad?
Also, I get a key battery warning on occasion, so I know the key fob battery is getting old or is not charged enough.
