    Oil Temp

The 650i has an Oil Temp gage... anyone know what should be considered normal temps for the oil?

Basically anywhere on the gauge is 'within limits', but most sit just left of centre - here's what the manual says:

Again, many thanks Timm, this is the first car I have owned that does not have a coolant temp gage!

My previous two BMWs have had thermostats that failed wide open, and thus slow warm-up times. I picked up my 630i a few days ago and have been worried about how slowly the coolant seemed to be warming up, thinking that the thermostat might be the first job I'd have to tackle. I felt like a total numpty when I discovered that it's an oil temp gauge, especially when I realised that I had totally missed the oil can symbol in the instruments!

I think that your reaction was the same for many... me included. I have always had coolant temp info, and this is the first time I have had oil temp info, usually its oil pressure.
As some wise man once said.... Its all in the details, Kind of like taking an exam... RTFQ!

OK here is an update.... I installed the Avin system mainly so I could have a backup camera, which works great!
I upgraded the order to include the Wifi OBD module, hoping to get more power plant information.... guess what? Coolant temperature is one of them. If it only had oil pressure, I would really be happy.
I have been monitoring the coolant temp, it stays at 105'C almost constantly when warmed up, with Oil temp running about 220'F. Since 105 equates to 221, they are close to each other, which makes sense.
Another nice feature, you can monitor the voltages, and instant mpg.
