Just finished my 1st real life major auto repair on my '97 840ci: Water pump!!! Most complicated think I've ever done before this was a thermostat on a '78 Buick skylark 25 years ago. Just wanted to say THANKS to bimmerforums for the vast amount of DYI stuff available. The BMW dealer wanted almost $1300 for this repair and i did it for less than $100.00. It only took 6 hours, 3/4 of a large supreme pizza and 11 cans of beer.
Only 11 beers? You must have whipped through that!

Gotta have priorities, right? It was YOUR diagrams & pictures that got me through it, Timm. So thanks to you, especially!
Great to hear!

Great job! But you took waaay to long, WP replacement is usually only a 6 beer job on average.
+1
Thanks, Chris Next it's the upper/lower control arms, motor mounts, shocks/struts, lower oil pan leak, oil level sensor, both horns, transmission mounts, transmission seal, all rear bushings, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
I need more beer :/
Then it'll be as good as new!
