    OBD1 Heatshield Vanity Covers

Just finished these guys up today. Pretty good use of a day of rest I would say.

Same deal as last time, we scanned the OBD1 Cover and designed it to fit exactly.

These will, again, be laser cut and CNC bent out of vinyl wrapped stainless.

Stainless is the preferred material when it comes to protecting against radiant heat!

If anyone is interested Ill be taking limited pre-orders for these for the next 3 weeks at a reduced price. I will have these quoted on Monday, but expect pricing to be similar to last time.

The final product will look similar to this:

Running list for the preorder for BFC:
    1. Callmepuff
    2. Mithclevy7
    3. lbennyboobool
    4. Parallel
    5. Dankeen

We discussed that during our design phase, and decided it wasn’t needed. However, it’s open on the ends and therefore will retain less heat than the oem cover.

I vented my plastic cover on each side of the mounting bolts, there has to be a lot of heat down there no wonder coil packs fail.

Many of us using these would need a space for the coil pack wiring to pass though near the coil cap.

Good eye! There is clearance for this.

To make sure they fit perfect we will be ordering a prototype and putting it on a running obd1 car before releasing the remainder to be cut!

If we need to clearance up into the lip we will.

We had really mixed feelings towards the ///m.

With these you can have a vinyl cut with ///m or bmw or what have you.

While I see what you are after, have you considered the following?

An engine is thermostatically controlled to around 80c in normal operating conditions. Meanwhile exhaust temperature wildly exceeds 80c. This exhaust heat is radiated off into the engine bay. This radiant heat is even greater in a turbo application, especially a top mount.

With that said it is our contention that radiant heat in the engine bay will always exceed the temperature of the valve cover; therefore, We only need to protect the coils, wires, gaskets, and other composites from direct radiant heat.

Funny Coincidence, I was just wondering if someone was going to make an OBD 1 version. Let me know where to pay when ready.

I placed the order for the prototype, but not received yet.

I order these from a specific shop because of their laser and bending machines.

These got put behind a large order I’m hoping to have the prototype cover any time.

I made my own out of aluminum and covered in gold heat tape. it turned out great, but it was a ton of time invested to get it bent, fit and trimmed right. After personally doing mine and knowing what goes into it I'd say your sitting a great price for a bolt on part!
