Hello everyone I'm new to the forum but I get all my info here when I need to get something done on any of my bmws.
Anyways I thought it would be a good idea to actually post this time.
I have a 98 e36 318i I bought of someone who had it parked for about 6 years after it over heated on him. It's very well kept. But it turned out that he blew the head gasket. I already shaved the head (it's at it's max) and did the valves ,paint ect . Prety much a complete head rebuild.
My question is can one time the cams with out a cam lock tool? And is there anything else I should know about? Thanks
Welcome to the Forum!
It is HIGHLY recommended to lock the cams, beside most places like autozone can rent the tool to you, give them a call.
Also you need to lock the bottom end at TDC, for this is really the only way to install the head.

I'll give them a call. If not I'll just use the a ruller method I found online just put a ruller on top of the square part of the cams. Makes sense.
Timing turned out good.

Good to hear it turned out well for you without the tools.
And yes, it is 10 posts as that is a way to keep the spammers out of the forum.
