    Hi jojonyc,

I see you picked up on that! Just got my car back from the bodyshop and I went for a pure brilliant white. All car brands 'white' are still mixed with other colours to produce their particular shade. It's harder to find an automotive paint supplier willing to sell just the pure brilliant white paint they 'add' the other colours to, but I found a place willing to do it. I'm happy with how it's turned out and I'll create a full build/project thread for my car here soon

As for audio, I did a full install in mine some years back after evaluating how to get a great sounding setup at perhaps 60-70% of a competition winning E39 install, at intermediate cost levels, semi stealth and relatively easy to install to give the maximum amount of SQ improvement Vs money spent. Here's my writeup about it in case you've not seen it in this section as yet !

    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-Audio-Upgrade

The step by step approach is one that can work as and when funds allow. I'd say do start off with a good head unit and some front speakers, get the baffle improved in the front doors. Add a 5 channel amplifier in due course and run the fronts off the new amplifier. Add a subwoofer and use the amps 5th channel to drive that, the 'Basser' enclosure that goes over the battery is available on ebay and there's a great writeup from GearGrinder ( I think ?!) about the little tricks needed to install it well. Finally, if you do the same D pillar pods as me, then you use the remaining 2 rear channels off the amplifier to drive 3 or 4 inch co-axials. Some do stuff a driver in the roof panel/oem location, but it's a terrible location for imaging as it fires direct to the load floor.

    Cheers, Dennis!

Hey Stephen !! (jojo) The door card and the seat look sweet ! Nice work by redshift ! I dig people that own their craft !! #yougoboyeeee The only other thing that seat needs is to fit a new lower seat cushion like we discussed. I hope you restore the steering wheel in the original fashion. I loved the 2-tone wheel..and the bottom line is that you may darned well be the ONLY owner of one...hahaha... I think it fits the essence of an Individual car well... Again, my ultimate would have been to recover it but use cinnamon alcantara where applicable

re: brake upgrades - don't forget, Frau Christine already has the budget-BBK on the front. (stock front parts from a 2003 540 touring...)

and VERY sorry she was messy That was such a shotgun program there at the end that I didn't have time to clean it all out like I wanted. I did NOT want to send it to you the way I did, but I felt it was more important not to blow your window to have it picked up and shipped. The PO had a woof-woof-woofer and I was still getting hairs out of the carpet up to the day it left my driveway...

Glad you posted this thread. I cannot wait to see what you do !

Hey Eric, yeah you can contact Brian with the info that's in that photo. He's been featured on a number of BMW magazines, whether it was for his own M5/M3 tourings (the e39 m5 touring will be up for sale on bringatrailer soon btw) or for doing work on other features. He did the caramel interior for this e38 s62 build: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-bmw-740i-27/

Lol no worries man. I'm just ecstatic I actually got my hands on this thing. This car might really be the only euro m sport individual touring in the States. If it weren't for the rust, I'd build on this!

I'm really liking that "cinnamon stripe" wheel on ebay. We'll see!

You know... it's weird, I never really got into the leather dash. My M5 has the regular vinyl and it looks good to me. IDK.. I'll have to check out another leather dash.

BTW- the donor car does have the coveted euro dash. That will DEF be going into the white car.

Cool that you met Randy Pobst, I crewed for Randy for almost ten years and a great friend, stays at our place when he does Gingerman Raceway.
Is one of the nicest people you could meet. The man can drive a car.

Very cool. Yeah Randy was great. Really humble. I'd love to sit in a race car with him and let him scare me to death :-)
