So since I’ve had my car (2008 328I) only the door speaker has worked. The 6 x 9’s our the ones under the seat haven’t worked. Are those speakers hooked up to the amp? I have to take my car to BMW Saturday for the heat valve recall Ima ask um if they can test the amp. The amp not working is the only thing I can think of as to why all the speakers won’t work
Hi,
Could be any number of reasons;
Blown speakers, loose/missing wiring and connections, faulty amplifier unit, balance/fader settings or circuit/IC's failing, chafing wiring or continuity issues with the speaker wiring..
The BMW dealer will perhaps check those but at an hourly rate of course. You might want to find a local reputable car audio installer and have them take a look.
Cheers, Dennis!
Your car dad a multi-channel amp in the left side of the trunk. It sits behind the trunk liner. As at least one speaker is receiving a signal the fuses are fine. So, I’d pull back the trunk liner and inspect the amp and the surrounding area. I’d remove the connector(s) and reseat them. If the problem persists, you can try this BMW approved reset procedure:
- remove the ground cable from the battery
- remove the positive cable from the battery
- short the 2 cables together for 10 minutes
- reconnect the positive cable
- reconnect the negative cable (sparks are ok)
- set the clock.
Also, how old is the battery?
I just got a new battery about a year ago. The speakers haven’t worked since I had the car. My 2 door speakers did work but my 6x9s and the other ones never did since I’ve owned it
