Walked out to my car this evening and the trunk was clicking, like it's trying to lock/unlock on it's own. The truck was completely shut. I locked and unlocked the car a few times to "reset", with no luck. The temps are 5* in St. Louis, not including windchill. I've only had the car for a few months, so the cold temps would be a new issue for me. My thoughts were the batteries were draining or losing charge. It hasn't been driven in a few days. The car came with 2 trickle chargers (CTEK 3300) in the truck, so I hooked these up. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forum.
My guess would be the GM (General Module). A search will return lots of thread on that subject.

Don't worry, that is just low battery voltage - we saw this quite recently on another E31. Don't use TWO chargers - you only need one as the batteries are in parallel - using two chargers will just confuse them and neither may charge.

I had that exact same trunk issue in mine and it was the general module, fixed that problem right up. It’s probably happening because of the cold. Though it could be the low voltage batteries too that Timm said.
Thank you for responses. I've disconnected one of the chargers. Does it make a difference which side it's connected to?
I use a single battery tender on the contacts under the hood (+ and ground nut)...BUT I am pretty sure its the General (electronics) Module (GM).
Common...I just did mine. Getting the module out is a little intimidating but I did it (and reinstalled after repair) with no real issues...and it is familiar to me as I did it last week.
I have the tutorial, etc...
