    Oil pump o-ring replacement question

    I will be installing a baffled oil pan & gasket next week along with new pickup tube, pickup tube gasket, and dispstick O-rings.

    I was also interested in changing out the o-ring inside the oil pump. #8 here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_6017

    Is the spring (#7) under a lot of pressure? Looks like a snap ring that holds the cover in place. I'm wondering if it's going to be difficult to reinstall or if there's a trick to it.

    It's WAY easier with 2 people. I use a 3/8 extention to press on the cap while another guy removes the snap ring. It's takes a good bit of pressure to compress the spring for sure. If you don't let go slowly after the snapring is removed, the guts will FLY a long way

    Dang, maybe I'll just leave it alone or convince my brother with tacos to give me a hand.
