I am having issues regarding secondary air pump with the generic code of P2430. I did also had a code of P0430 which I took care of by replacing the purge valve. I had replaced the pump and the valve but still keep on getting this pesky P2430. I have replaced the pink salmon relay and have checked the 50 amp fuse which is good. I need this problem solved in order to pass smog and transferred legally into my name. By the way this problem is for an '04 325i Touring which I picked up last year. I have replaced "normal" numerous wear and tear parts (cooling system and suspension) and now driveshaft center support needs replacement. Is there anyone who had this problem before? Suggestions anyone? Thank you.
Thanks. I came across that link a couple of weeks back and basically did eveything it mentioned to do and what to look for.
After letting it warm up, remove the large hose going to the valve thats attached to the engine and pour seafoam in it and let it sit overnight. SAP ports in the head have a tendency to clog with carbon.
I did the Seafoam cleaning on my wife's 330i and it did the trick. Give it a shot.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
It will thermally shock the combustion chambers/pistons and free up deposits to slam into the catalytic converter. Other than if that happens, once you're done putting in the seafoam shut the motor off and let it sit overnight. Next time you fire it up lots of smoke, etc., and it may clean up. Clogging the cat...another issue.
If it were my car before I did that kind of Seafoam I would disconnect the catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe......but maybe you'll be lucky too.
I forgot to ask you guys, how much Seafoam treatment should I use? A can or?
Fill the big hose (about 1 ounce is all it will hold), start the car then turn it off after a few seconds so the SAP will suck it in to the pathways of the head. Do this 3 times and let it sit overnight after the last turn off. All in all, you'll use about 3-4oz total. It will smoke for a little while when you start the car up in the morning but it will go away. Its just the seafoam burning off.

OK Thanks.
SUCCESS! No pending codes and all monitors finally are completed whoa! Thank you dhurley34 and all the rest of you guys who recommended the Seafoam treatment. It sure did the trick. What I did differently was instead of pouring it in the valve tube as recommended, I removed the valve and with a funnel I poured it directly into the opening where the valve goes to half of the Seafoam can and left it soaking overnight. It sure did smoked for a while and when the smoke became minimal I drove it in an area where it's less traveled and it started smoking again until it finally cleared up. It was a continous driving 75/80 mph until the smoke cleared. Once again, Thank you guys.
