Hi guys, does anyone here have experience with installing the extended wiring harnas for android headunits from the trunk of the car to the front? Not sure how to do this. Any help would be appreciated!
Send a PM to Dennis Cooper. He has done a lot of work on his E39 touring.

Hi,
Slight slip of the keyboard there !? an E38 Touring could be an awesome thing indeed!
DenHaag, I personally don't have direct experience of installing an extension harness, nor any of those cheap quality android units, I prefer reliable and high quality items
You only need the extension if your car came with the Navigation/Amplifier unit's as part of the OEM audio setup. Assuming you do, then you unplug the oem modules and can remove them. You plug in one end of the extension harness and then run it under the trim/carpets on the side of the car, up and under the glovebox and then into the dash area.
If it's something you feel you don't want to do, have a local reputable car audio installer run the harness for you. They 'might' but most likely won't want to install the head unit for you though. Most reputable and well known and regarded car audio dealers and installers don't install them due to the high likliehood there'll be problems with the unit and they don't want owners coming back to them to blame them they messed it up during install etc.
In my E39 Touring, I have no oem audio modules and all my audio products are from high quality and reliable brands and zero issues over the last 5+ years.
Cheers, Dennis!
Fixed! Great catch, my friend.
