Hello! I am admittedly a BMW newbie, but also a veteran car guy. I am considering a E65/E66 chassis swap — putting a vintage Rolls-Royce body on a 2005 or 2006 chassis/drivetrain.
My question is about the engine management (and brake/ac management for that matter)...
Can I keep using the stock ECU, or will I somehow ruin it by taking out the other control modules that I deem non-essential to this swap (e.g. iDrive, power seats, TPMS, etc)?
If the stock ECU won’t work, is there an EMS that is best for the N62?
Thanks,
-Justin
In this case I would select an older 7 series chassis like the E32, and here the long wheel version iL with the V12 M70 engine. Much easier with the electronics. The M70 engine , transmission and the controls are often used in replica cars, you find a lot of info in these forums what you need to run the engine. Example : Lamborghini diablo replica build diary: Home page www.v12diablo.co.uk/
