I just finished changing my clutch and was taking it out for a test drive and I hear this whooshing noise when moving even if I'm just moving in neutral.
The car shifts fine and goes smoothly into all gears. Is it possible I messed something up during the clutch install? It still makes the noise when I let it coast in neutral.
Maybe something hitting the drive shaft? Any ideas?
Woosh isn’t a very descriptive word. Use your smartphone and record the sound. Then upload the video to YouTube. Provide the link.
Is all of the heat shielding firmly in place? I've had a car with these pieces touching the driveshaft, "whooshing" is a good way to describe the sound this made.
Another possibility is the DS center bearing is making the noise. Did you pre-load it by pushing it a bit forward while installing?
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Looking back I probably didn't pre-load it when installing it. You just push it forward?
Also, I probably put the guibo disk on wrong since I didn't pay attention to the arrows.
It was the heat shield that was hitting the drive shaft
