Ok....Calling all electric experts. I got a fun one for you.

So, having the occasional lapse in common sense...I bought a 2007 335i convertible with an electrical issue. Heavily discounted, but still going to be a challenge.

So here's where I am now. I have power to the ignition, so all the dash lights seem to light up. THe power door locks work, as do the headlights and some interior lights.

    Here's what doesn't work
    Power Seats
    Power Windows
    Climate Control
    Radio
No attempt to start at all(to solenoid clicking)
    Convertible top
    Trunk Latch

The previous owner replaced the changed the footwell module with a used unit. I've checked the power cable in the back of the fuse panel. Battery is good.

I suspect the JBE and the footwell module are both bad. But I though I would ask the experts before I start dropping cash on parts.

    What should I check next?

Check the connection of the main battery cable to the fuse box in the passenger footwell.

    Google ... BMW SI B61 09 18

If that cable is "thermally damaged" (overheated), it can melt the connection.

Well the foot well modules are pretty sensitive I have seen them go out right after changing the battery, so the used part was probably not the best idea. So all things not working you would have to see if there are tied together via a wiring diagram for instance. Is it a flood car

Did you try sticking INPA or Carly [or something that can talk to the controllers?] to see if you can see the modules?
I always was taught to start with servicing all grounds.

    Thought I'd throw an update.

Pulled the fuse panel, checked all the connections. Turns out the PO had a fuse in the wrong slot and the CAS wasn't getting power. All is well, it's reassembled and back on the road again.
