HI EVERYONE... MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON (HAS BEEN ON AWHILE) I BROUGHT THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO THE BMW SERVICE CENTER IN PORT CHESTER AND IT WAS A DISASTER! THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM NEVER MIND THAT UPON RETURNING THERE WERE FUSES BLOWN OUT ETC.
THEY EVEN TRIED LYING SAYING ITS OK SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF BY RESETTING THE CAR BUT RIGHT WHEN I WENT TO TAKE THE CAR THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON! I PUT S NEW O2 SENSOR AMONG OTHER THINGS BUT ALL IT DID WAS RUN UP MY BILL AND NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE.
BUT... NOW RANDOMLY AFTER A VERY COLD DAY LIKE 4 DEGREES IT WAS HERE, AS I WAS DRIVING THE YELLOW "BRAKE" LIGHT WENT ON (THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT IN YELLOW NOT RED) AND MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IN THE CENTER DISPLAY WENT ON AS WELL. .. PRESSING THE DSC BUTTON DOES NOTHING, I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THAT IS FINE.
AFTER RESEARCHING I SAW THERE WAS MANY OPTIONS SUCH AS SPEED SENSORS ON THE TIRES BEING DIRTY OR NEEDING NEW ONES? OR SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS GETTING MY WHEELS ALIGNED?
I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR =( THE SOLUTION DOESN'T SEEM EXTREME (AS FAR AS THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TRACTION WHO KNOWS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE) THE CAR IS DRIVING FINE BUT FOR SOMETHING LIKE A SENSOR AND ALSO TO TRULY FIND OUT WHY MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WITHOUT A RUN AROUND WOULD BE NICE!
THANK YOU FOR ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!!

hi - welcome to the forum.
yikes - yelling.
ok.
a few simple questions - one, what's the mileage on the vehicle? two, how does the vehicle run - any issues/noises, etc? three - do you know any of the codes that are stored (this might be on your invoice, they may have told you, etc. - just asking)....
there are many, many reasons for the CEL and other lights to be on, so, we'll need to start somewhere.
another question - have you looked into any non-dealer BMW shops (independent)? Bimmers Only and Autoworks seem highly rated in that area.

Bimmers Only in Bedford Hills is excellent. They will give you an honest appraisal of what's wrong - just be aware that what's wrong may well be expensive to rectify.
And please stop yelling at us. We're only trying to help.

It scares me when a girl gets mad and yells and makes growly red faces while shaking her head. I hope one of the local BMW specialist independent shops above can scan all your computers, diagnose the issues, and give you the trouble codes and a diagnosis, Danielle.
I will say that the vast majority of the E46's I see with multiple warning lights are usually due for several thousand dollars worth of neglected maintenance and repairs. Your car requires ~$2000+ per year in maintenance and repairs, and all years this has been neglected accrue.
If you tell us the codes, in words, from all the car's computers, we can likely tell you what you need to do to fix it.
