E32/34 M30B35 difference?

Hey all!

I've been driving a 90' 735iL for about 18 months now. The car is fast and I love it. In fact I love it so much I got my girlfriend an e34 535i. Both cars have the same engine and maybe transmission but damn, her car is so much faster!

It jumps off the line and can hit speed with ease. Where as my 735iL is far from slow but definitely is not a drag racer. I looked up the weight difference and it's about 100lbs which I didn't think was much but I'm probably wrong. My 7er is in great shape but damn that 5er is smoking me!

Does anyone know if the e34 is tuned differently or does that 100lbs make that big of a difference?

Depending on year, options etc of each car, there could be closer to 800 lbs variation in weight. That is going to make a serious difference in acceleration.

Both are far from being quarter mile queens.

The E34 is much lighter than the long wheel base E32 735iL. Also final drive is different ratio.
