Hi all. While we are forced inside by our -35C winter here in Quebec I thought I'd take a look at my front brakes. I am new to vehicle maintenance and I would appreciate some feedback on the following please:
1. The pads are branded as Ferodo and they seem to have plenty of material left. It should be ok to keep them right?

2. The inside of the piston shows some corrosion. Maybe this is why the pads weren't fully released when I spun the disc, before disassembly? They were rubbing. Should I rebuild the caliper?

3. The disc shows some chipping on the edges, is that noteworthy?

4. If the brake hose shows no external sign of wear, should it be changed regardless due to age?
Thank you!
pads look o.k.
there are seal kits available for the pistons, see here http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/ca...akeCaliper.htm . I once bought these seal kits from autohausaz.com
or if too much corrosion, rebuilt kits are available from various sources
disk chipping should be no problem, that is outside the area where the pads usually go
while you are working there, I would also change the brake hoses, they are not that expensive, often they even come free of charge on brake kits.
