2011 328i Service Engine Soon Light, rough idle and vibration

Hey guys,
I have 44k on my 328i. Cranked it up today and noticed a rough idle and vibration, esp accelerating uphill. When I accelerated a bit more, the service engine light came on.

When I parked it back in my garage it smelled like something was burning. When I lifted the hood, I noticed this red ring-looking piece (view pic) that looked super hot.

Any idea what's going on? Thanks for the help!

Running a little rich? Don’t get it.

I don’t have a scanner and prob have a shop do the work.

Was hoping someone on here could give me an idea of what I am dealing with.
