Hello, all. I bought our e38 with failed guides and have put it back together and it's running great. The issue is I don't how a running M62 is supposed to sound, what is a "Normal" sound. I hear the injectors and other innocent sounds but just don't know. Looked on You tube but didn't find anything. Anyone have a brief sound clip of a normal idle?
its a DHOC v8. i had bad lifter tick on mine after it sat and i did the guides. Consider the cross plane cranks V8 exhaust note as well, sounds like a hallow very quite knock. Imagine it's a Chevy truck engine, does it sound ok?
Here's a sound clip from my M62B44 at idle when warming up:
It sounds a lot noisier when the acoustic foam and cover are removed. The engine has done 165k miles.....
