    Thanks guys

Timm, it has 302 * Remote Control Anti-Theft
The car was starting fine up until this point
When I try to start it the alarm goes off with the hazards. And the engine turns over but won’t fire

I didn’t find the alarm box. It seems to be buried deep in the engine somewhere. I think it’s below the wiper mechanism but I was hoping I wouldn’t need to rip that out which is why I didn’t find it. I don’t have the key to turn it off either

There is a box behind the modules in the pic I sent of the rear seat. It has a few fuses in it which made me think it wasn’t what I was looking for

A guy on fb had the same issue but he connected the battery with the key in the ignition turned to the on position and the car started fine
    I’m going to try that
But for piece of mine I’d like to get this sorted. If the alarm ever went off the only way I can switch it off is disconnecting the battery which is awful

When I picked the car up it sat for 2 weeks and I replaced the battery. Upon start up the hazards went on but I just turned them off and started the car. Thought nothing more off it. That was the beginning of my alarm trouble..

Also, I can’t unlock the car with my keys. I have to access the car from the passenger door lock

Could this perhaps be something going on with the obc code feature Timm?

The OBC should flash up 'CODE' if it was - but certainly worth checking. My feelings are that you don't have the Alarm System 3 as you can find no sign of it. I would think that you have something else that I a have no information on - possibly the Alpine system which was available in '93. A quick look at the circuit diagram for '93 (the latest I have) shows that it is disabled via the drivers door lock switch - so it is well worth working out what has gone wrong in there as it will have some bearing on your problem!

    Thanks guys
Tried connecting the battery with me in the car with all the doors shut
Alarm rings, hazards, engine turns over but won’t fire

Anyway, tried to get into the boot and guess what... I can’t get in.. I’ve had it open before though
Need to look into breaking into the boot

Timm, I’m going to look into this alpine system you speak off. Are you implying that the alarm can be turned off by turned the key in the drivers door?
    I’ll try that

try this, Trunk latch won't open? http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_38.htm
In worst case you can remove the rear center console, there is a perforated metal piece for the ski bag opening to the trunk, use a hammer and smash it out, then you could try with a long stick to remove the carpet/cover between the taillights.
see skibag eba for E34, similar https://bmweba.com/tag/ski-bag/

I’m going to reconnect the battery and try it. Or will that make a difference. It has soft close

The most annoying thing about the alarm situation is the siren. The car is currently stored in an outhouse which is in close proximity to a farm house which my parents rent. So I hate making noise. As soon as the siren goes off I don’t feel comfortable trying different things to try and get it off as I don’t want to cause any annoyance to the tenants

So is there anyway I can disable the siren temporarily? I don’t want to wreck it (yet anyway) wrecking it won’t solve the immobiliser problem as the car still won’t start. If I could just get the sound diminished it would help a lot!

I take it the first step is to locate it
Once I do that I believe it has source of power from a battery so cutting the wire won’t work?

    Thanks

The softclose modul is unfortunately also in the trunk, pics here http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/soft...softclose.html
On my car the alarm siren is located right side (in your case driver side) in the area where the wiper mechanism is. I once remove such a siren from as parts car, but I had to access it from engine bay. Here is a pic from an E31, see the red arrow
    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...siren-location
    same on E32.
Wait.....here is the EBA for alarm siren for E32, so there you see the wiring and the siren location https://bmweba.com/eba-01-29-9-786-206/

Also check under rear seat left side if there are fuses for the softclose, maybe a blown fuse? But I do not have softclose, no idea where such a fuse would be.

I’ll mute the siren first and then fix the boot issue
I have to replace the expansion bottle so I’ll remove that first to try and give myself more room when looking for the siren

Another way to open the trunk is to drill a small hole behind the license plate and then use a hook to get hold of the lever. That is in the official instructions for the German road assistance service handbook

Got the car to start Yes!

After getting into the boot and searching it I was out of ideas Was talking to a friend and he done a quick google to find that there was a ‘secrete’ blue fuse under the back seat

I remember reading about it but I was so focused on looking for that specific module I had I didn’t try any other ideas

Since I was desperate I thought I’d pull the module that the fuse goes into. It is very wel burried, but I’m used to digging. After pulling the carpet to access the screw I got it out I’m still not sure what it is, but I pulled the fuse and the car turned on with no alarm issues

    It also unlocks and locks

I’m pleased the car is running but it’s not the end of it. I’d like to fix the issue as pulling the fuse is just a ‘quick’ fix.

What do I do next? Source a new module? Or what Also is the module I got of the guy in England of no use to me?

Do I need the module I pictured with a coded key ? Or do they have a coded key ?Thanks !

That's an ultrasonic Alarm control unit - and not Alarm System 3 as I had fitted. If your car works without it then all's good!

    Thanks Tim!

That is what I like to hear haha

Is the car disadvantaged in anyway because I have disconnected it? I've read that the OBC won't work without it, so I'm currently looking into possible solutions for that. But I'm wondering what the ultrasonic Alarm Control unit actually does, and what I'm missing out on without it

Is there a key fob which comes with the car that is coded into the alarm unit? or what other was was there for me to stop the alarm from going off without taking the fuse out of the alarm unit?

    Sorry for all the questions!
