Am adding S52 M3 cams to my M50 motor. Question is about valve springs. I know the S50/S52 springs (bee hive) springs and keepers will work, but how about the S54? Just happens that those are available Any help appreciated.
Edit...should have been M54 springs.

Be sure your cam boxes are proper configuration.
I suspect the height is incorrect.

Cam boxes are the same part number.
Not what I see in www.realoem.com
S52 Cam Tray
Bearing Ledge E 11 12 1 436 224
Bearing Ledge I 11 12 1 740 428
325 Cam Tray
Bearing Ledge E 11 12 1 744 144
Bearing Ledge I 11 1 21 744 141

I stand corrected...was going on what I was told. But, these numbers were superseded as follows:
All of the above numbers default to a 11 12 1 744 141, for these cars: 3' E36 (11/1989 — 10/1995)
5' E34 (01/1989 — 06/1996)
So, they are all the same.

Look at the date range of those interchanges
M50 cam trays (bearing ledges) do not interchange with 1996+ S52 CT/cams - 325/M50 Cam Tray/Bearing Ledge I 11 1 21 744 141 and
While other part numbers are listed as being superseded the 1996+ S52 Cam Tray/Bearing Ledge I 11 12 1 740 428, in the view of realoem I’ve been looking at are not listed

Nor does 325 Cam Tray/Bearing Ledge E 11 12 1 744 144 interchange/supersede 1996+ S52 Cam Tray/Bearing Ledge E 11 12 1 436 224
In this view of realoem-

Are you accessing a different/more accurate database?
S50/S52 trays appear to be the same, which I did not believe to be the case-

I have been told that the later cams with more lift/duration can be used in the earlier tray but the trays must be ground for clearance. Next week I will be able to get both in my hands with a pair of M3 cams to check.
Ok, I have the proper cams and trays for the conversion....question now is m54 valve springs???
Check part numbers in www.realoem.com for part number compatibility.
