Hi Gents. So I've tried everything. Replaced wiper relay, still doesn't work properly. There is no condensation or any corrosion below the connector or on wires, everything is in tact, no blown fuses. The linkage seems to want to flex slightly downward before twisting two more times and will not run correctly. I am puzzled at this point. From the days I've spent trouble-shooting this, it can only be the wiper motor being faulty or the general module. Not sure which to try next. It started up as soon as the snow hit. I can get the wipers to wipe back and forth on higher settings just fine but they won't return home. Washer fluid works just fine. I do have a spare linkage but I don't think that is the issue. What would you guys try next? This is driving me nuts! Ive tried adjusting the wipers but it won't do anything. I am clueless at this point.

I remember reading in the WDS that there is a microswitch that tells the wipers when they are in the home position. That switch may be bad or misadjusted in yours. I don't know where exactly the switch is, though. It may be in the motor.

Do the wipers always return to the same position on the windshield when they stop?
The park switch is indeed in the wiper motor:

Thanks. I did see this thread and wondered if the "grease" is the issue. I did open it up once and there is alot of grease in there but I'm hesitant to wipe a bunch of it out of there. Not sure where it belongs and where it does not belong. There is a small metal clip inside, I wonder if that is the "switch?"

This might sound weird but, on my e36 318TI I had a similar problem. Wipers would not return to home and sometimes would "park" in different positions. I bought a Bosch wiper motor to replace mine as the park microswtich is in the motor. Turns out when I pulled the linkage and all from the cowl, the linkage was loose on the splines of the motor. With 215,000 guess its possible Tightened the linkage and it worked and parked fine. I replaced the motor anyway and all is well
Thanks for the replies. I've pulled this thing apart and reinstalled it probably 6 times now and cant get it working. I think I'm going to order the motor and see if that solves it. If not then I'm going to hand it over to the mechanic.
I pulled off the plate, cleaned out all the excess grease, wiped everything clean, problem remains. Im going for the motor now, if that doesn't work, I'm handing it over to my mechanic. Hoping it isnt the general module.
So after 2 and half weeks of mystery, and being sold two bad wiper motors (one by a parts yard, one by JC whitney) I have finally found the issue and fixed the positioning. It was the hinge anchor positioning. Somebody did post this in a previous thread, and I did try a few different positions before with no luck, then last night after installing the last bad motor I figured it out. You have to position the hinge connection as shown with the rod facing east. This should be noted in some of the stickies and on E38 but I didn't find it anywhere.
So moral of the story was the hinge screw came loose, the anchor hit the wrong position, I tightened it up and was left with the issue. Finally fixed!
And took the time to install this rubber cowl fix for the lower windshield that I bought a year ago but hadn't got around to installing. So far so good.
