Whats up guys. I'm looking at getting an X5 2011-2013. I don't want a diesel. I am wanting to know first hand experience about the difficulty to work on and gain access to the engine to perform maintenance and such on the 50i vs the 35i. I know the I6 will be easier, but how hard is the 4.4? What goes wrong on either of them typically? I am a DIY guy and do all of my own work, except alignments lol. Any input is appreciated.
Personally I would stick with the 6 cylinder, less of everything. Change the oil every 5k. Replace air and micro filters & spark plugs at the invervals. Service the trans and transfer case at 60k. The spark plugs could be at a 60k interval. Flush brake fluid every two years.
+1, from what I've heard and read the I6 is a more reliable motor in general, not to mention easier to work on. Take a look at the link below to an earlier article where they discuss the E70. Hope this helps you out a bit and best of luck!

Thanks for the input guys. How easily do the wider wheels bend?
