    Post Heater/AC Not Working

    Hello,
I have a 1992 BMW 735IL which has 425,000 miles on it. My car started to run hot and I would have to add coolant to it daily. I replaced the thermostat, water pump, and the fan clutch. I did bleed the system and the car is still running hot.
The heater and ac stopped working before I replaced those items I listed.Do I need a blower motor resistor, if so where is it located?

First of all bleed the system http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_19.htm
You had to add coolant daily? Was it leaking outside because of leaking hoses or did it get into the engine = grey, sweet smelling smoke came from the exhaust? If so, then you might have a headgasket problem.
Pull the 3 wire connector from the heater valve, the heater valve should be fully open without power and the heating system should work. If not, not enough coolant or the heater valve is stuck closed. Heater valve you can disassemble and clean, see my website below.
The E32 does have a socalled heater sword, that only regulates the blower fan speed. But not the temperature. http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Mainte...ical/Sword.htm
The sword is located on the right side/passenger side, shown here on a RHD E32 http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E32/Microfilter/Index.htm

AC system you have to check if there is enough pressure in the system, otherwise it will not work.

Thank You!!! I didn’t see any leaky hoses. I would add coolant and then the next day the add coolant indicator would come up. The temperature gauge would still be at normal operating level. After 4 days of this, it started to run hot that’s when I repacked the items that I listed. I will get to work!!!
