I see that some people have used LED assemblies for adding a third brake light to an older E24. I'd like to add a third brake light, but I want to use the old style incandescent housing. Could anyone recommend an incandescent third brake light assembly for an E24. I've found a few used ones in good condition on ebay but they were listed as only compatible with the E30. I don't see why the E30 light wouldn't be compatible with the E24. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
I see your point, I want to add the same to my car but I will upgrade to LED's when we get to rebuilding. The E30 third brake light housing may need to be slanted differently as the rear windows have a different tilt, besides this I don't think any objections exist. It is mounted on the carpet I think?
I've had both (e24 and e30) out of the car and believe they are the same part

Put one of these in the wire to the central brake light:

to eliminate the error light on the dash.
This was recommended by Daniel Stern, lighting guru, who's suppling new lighting for my car. I haven't installed it yet as the car not back from the respray. Roger
