Will a gorilla duct tape temporary fix work on crankcase vent hose?

I broke it in half where the ribbed part starts when I was changing the valve cover gaskets, so it’s kinda got a packman mouth. Will duct tape work until my ccv replacement kit comes in the mail? I gotta drive an hour away and back in the next 2 days. 2001 325i

You’ll likely end up with a massive vacuum leak and codes P0171 & P0174.

What if no codes popped up? I drove it around for 30mins with the duct tape and it was driving the same. What are the symptoms of a vacuum leak? Also is the hose pressurized?

i wouldn't be too worried about it, actually. i did the exact same thing on my car during a VANOS replacement - i think that's when that hose broke due to age/being brittle. this is the hose that's right at the top front of the engine and it has a 90 degree connection into the valve cover, yes?

i think i actually used electrical tape.

vacuum leak could produce rough running, etc. that hose is pressurized but (if things are working correctly) it's a very slight pressure - almost imperceptible....

OP is in Texas, so duct tape.

Duct tape gets very soft and quickly loses its ability to hold things together in heat.
You can use aluminium HVAC tape for a quick temporary fix, until you get a new tube.

Just wanted to point out that "temporary" should refer to the amount of time it takes for the new one to get to you....this is a very inexpensive part, and it should be replaced right away.

Thanks everyone, I drove it and the gorilla duct tape held up but definitely couldn't last more than a day of commuting. I got hvac tape on it now and I just ordered a ccv replacement kit, as soon as it gets here I’m replacing the whole system. Y’all are quick on this forum.
