    E36 328 -97 DME question

Hi, im wondering if i replace my current DME MS41.0 with a flashed/mapped one (EWS deleted MS41.0) if there anything more i need to do with my car to get it to start? splice any cables? remove the EWS unit/relay?
This EWS system i really getting on my nerves starting whenever it wants and so on. so i decided to get an DME without EWS crap on it. but i cant find any info if i need to do anything else besides swaping DME.
The vendor on ebay assured me that "If it was a engine conversion the you would need to remove the EWS box and join 2 fat wires on the loom so the starter works" can anyone confirm or dismiss this?

I've done exactly the same to my 1997 323i.

If you buy a DME with the EWS-delete, you have to disconnect one wire. If I remember correctly it's a green wire, and you can easily disconnect the pin attached to it in the big round connector next to the fuse box. That's all. There are some video tutorials on the net. If you do it correctly (disconnect the pin from the connector), you can very easily revert to factory configuration if you want later. No soldering or wire cutting is needed. You can just leave the EWS unit, the ignition coil and all wiring in place.

Check the link to the ebay seller in my signature. It gives instructions on how to do it.

Oh wait, I found the youtube video I saw some time ago:

As long as your starter and battery are healthy it should work just fine.

If the EWS is deleted in the DME you don't have to disconnect anything. It will be plug and play.

If you want to remove the ews module out completely (for various reasons) then you have to bridge the starter relay wires. But that's completely different.

Perhaps it depends on the way the EWS is deleted in the firmware. In my case, (European 1997 MS41 M52, EWS2) the seller told me to disconnect the #7 wire in the round connector..
