Hello. Trying to help a friend with a mysterious problem. He replaced the aux/usb socket in the armrest and after that the aux input dosen't appear on the screen? The old and new are identical and have the same number. Even with the old installed again, aux don't appear. The usb has power. Have searched but can't find someone that had the same problem. Do the unit need to be coded? The car was delivered with the aux as standard.
I’d say it may need to be coded again, just a guess though?
I suspect that to. Just can't understand why this happened. Fine if the aux was something that got installed later , but the car came from the factory with It. I don't have equipment to program f31 only older models and when he asked the local bmwdealer they won't just code the aux. They will code the whole car for much $$$ and he was told that it was quite a big risk that something else would stop function. I know that it's a load of bs.
lol, actually it's not.
While it's less likely these days than back in the E65 era that programming a car will cause other control units to fail, it is still a distinct, real possibility. And I don't think BMW equipment has the capability to code individual modules prior to 2016 models.
