So I was looking through some used E38s online when something caught my eye. Someone had posted a 728, that was once converted and legally registrated as a 750, then converted by the same owner again into a 740d. This time though the car could not be legally converted(here in Norway you have go through alot of fuzz to do engine conversion) because of lacking documents on the parts he used for the job. The car is still a 750 and all it needs to be roadworthy is an engine and the parts that differ from a 740d.
Now, my question is what parts am I going to need and what will I have to change/do? Engine is obvious. Draining the fuel tank(obviously). But, what else? Is it just a matter of getting the right wiring harness, engine, engine mounts? The transmission is a 5HP-30 Steptronic which fits nicely.
What I am really worried about is if things like fuel lines, fuse ports, etc. Small things that turn into big things. Am I worrying too much, or should this be as simple as if it was a regular gasoline v8?

Get 740d VIN numbers, swap them around on the rolling shell and you are done.
Or you have to find people who can help you to register the car as it is for a little award.
Not that easy over here. They check if your VIN number matches the one that came with the plate.
