E36 convertible hazard light and window motor constant power. HELP!!!

Ok. My 1998 328 convertible has a problem. It’s been sitting in the garage for a while and has accumulated an issue whereby when the battery is connected, the hazard lights come on permanently. Also, the rear passenger side window motor has constant power which burnt out 2 motors before I realised the problem! I have removed every fuse to identify what I assumed was a short in the loom but window motor continues to function until I remove the fuse for the rear windows. The switches have also been removed, eliminating them from culpability. What could it be? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hazzard light can be caused by too weak battery. First of all recharge the battery.
There was also a series of bad crash alarm relays https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ht=crash+alarm

Thanks for your input Well the battery is fully charged and i removed the relays and fuses one by one to no avail. The hazard light issue occurred at the same time as the window issue, making me think they are connected...

Rewind a second. You were right. Thank you! Removing the crash alarm relay has stopped the hazard lights. The window still motors on constantly though..

After a couple of restarts the window motor has stopped. Not a conclusive win yet but i'm already ready to give you a round of applause sir. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Good luck, keep us up to date.
Otherwise check for wire problems. On my E32 750 I had broken wires from A-pillar to front door, causing locking as well as window probs.

So after removing the crash alarm module ive noticed my headlights and hazard lights aren’t functioning - does this sound plausible. I haven’t had a chance to check the fuses yet. My question is does the module need to be replaced or can it run without? Will it affect these things?
