Hi, can anyone please help me with this issue?
I have a e39 540i. A few weeks ago I replaced all the brake discs, disc pads etc.
I also removed the calipers and replaced the pistons and seals.
Everything g has been put back together as it should be.
My issue is.... I have bleed the brakes using the pressure bleeder as well as normal method, still the brakes feel not so solid.
If the battery is disconnected for a few hours only the DSC light is on.
All speed sensors have been checked and are showing the correct resistance etc.
Can anyone please tell me what else I need to look at and try?
Thank you
When you did the brake job, did you replace the ABS sensor ?
Do you have access to a BMW software that can reset DSC/ABS error codes (such as INPA ?)
When you bled the brakes, did air get into the ABS box? If so, you have to work the solenoids to bleed the box properly.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Hi, when I did work to the brakes I did not replace any sensors. Using a multimeter the resistance was correct.
I just received the INPA software today with the USB adaptor and will let you know tomorrow what the results are.
Thank you
Hi BimmrMeUpSnotty,
I am sure there was no air that went upto the ABS Unit. But, I cannot be certain. Lets say there was air in the pump, how can I remove it?
When you the solenoids have to be worked, how do I do that?
Thank you
So, after correctly installing and configuring INPA, you can turn-off those pesky ABS/DSC error lights.
(Load Tool32, Open group file DSC57.PRG, then double click "test_lenkwinkel" in the jobs list)https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=890659)

Hi Chedley, I will try that tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will work out.
The inky way I managed to switch off the ABS light was through disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Then once reconnected no ABS light. But, the light came back soon....
Wish me luck lol
UPDATE
I had the local garage check my car using a snap on code reader etc.
This is what the results are:
snap on error code ---------- issue
14 ----------- ABS Valve Relay
40 ----------- Pre Throttle Potentiometer
6 ------------Wheel Speed Signal Fronr Right
So, tomorrow i will replace the wheel sensor, i have a new one.
For the ABS Valve Relay - is that the pnk relay next to the ECU with other relays or does the ABS unit have an internal relay built in etc ...??
Thank you - any clues much appreciated
