Passenger thrust arm bolt is stuck...

What am I missing? Manipulating the steering got the driver side out without too much difficulty. But no matter what I do the passenger side binds in the steering arm. I've tried to not completely remove it, just backing it out enough to pull the thrust arm but even that is beyond my reach. Any ideas? I'd prefer not to disassemble the steering as it's a major PITA.

Here is a pic of the predicament:

Yeah. Had me stumped and cussing for a while too. Then I realized that you can find a steering angle where the curve/notch near the junction in the steering arm will allow the bolt to come out.

I removed bolt #7. Unbolting the sway bar brackets will give you more room too.

Rex, your link was working earlier, not now.

Shaf I think the dog leg you are referencing is exactly where my bolt head is bound up.

Lev I have considered taking out bolt #7 that you referenced, however getting a wrench on top to lock the nut did not appear to be much fun. Neither did the prospects of reinstalling said bolt, but I will give it shot.

Also the link should be working again. Thanks for the help.

Sorry. Don't know why yours might be different. My car is an '02 540-6, which I think should be the same. It wasn't easy -- I had to get the head on the bolt turned just right, and then get the steering arm just right, moving it as the bolt cam out. Had to do the same thing on both sides. Good luck!

Finally got it off, removing the steering arm was the solution! I didn't realize how much that arm limited movement of the center tie rod. Thanks for the help everyone! Now I just need to chop the top off one of the ball joints because it is too tall to fit in my separator. This job has been quite frustrating.

I hear you. An easy job, but very frustrating...
When I did it last summer, I loosened and moved the sway bar. That worked for me. Do not try to force out the bolt
