I had issues with my 2008 323i, It would not start, I could here the starter motor turn but not engage the fly wheel. I tow started it today my car. I parked it at home, and for fun I tried to start it again and it did twice. There was a lot of snow that day when I drove it to work and wouldn't start. So my question is Should I replace the starter anyway, or was it just frozen and stuck. I have about 150,000 km on it.
Moved to model specific sub-forum.
Good luck getting your 323i going again!

I would remove and replace, considering the age of your vehicle,
But I would verify that no gear teeth are broken/missing on flywheel or starter pinion gear.
2008, so that's an E90? Maybe you'll have more luck in the E90 forum..
