Nice pickup, just like mine when stock! I'm the second owner of mine since 33k miles. Glad to see you got back in an E36.

I've got both now and they are both fun in their own respect. There is something nice about being able to use 100% of the car all the time vs a 700whp 2900lb m3 that I can really only use 100% of the car on a long straight stretch of highway.

+1 Before kids I had a Miata and my turbo e36. They complemented each other so well. Sometimes its just more fun to drive a slow car fast, then a fast car slow.

It also depends on how much you have compromised the comfort, convenience, reliability and drive ability of the high power car. My turbo E36M3 is right on the edge for me, and it has heated power seats, heat and AC, stereo and street legal tires I can drive in the rain. I drive it about 6k miles per year. I don’t like driving and wishing I was in my faster car even if the times you use all the power are rare. For example, I was once in my modded N/A E90M3 when I ran into a C6 Z06 on an empty stretch of road and got spanked hard and was wishing I had been in the turbo E36M3.

Also depends if you can enjoy the stock m3 for what it is. I can. I am perfectly content, in fact I love driving around in my bone stock m3.

Also my turbo car has lost all streetability. 2900lbs. No ac. Twin disc clutch. E85. Drag radials. Etc. Just not a pleasant car to daily drive.. I do drive it to work every now and then for fun, but it's just that... a toy. With all that said, I still drive my turbo car about 10k miles a year...

The 2nd paragraph explains a lot. It’s hard to make a 20-25 year old low to mid range performance car competitive with the fastest cars on the road today without major compromise. And with too much compromise you don’t want to drive it much. It becomes more of an occasional toy.

Thats actually really impressive, my "toy" cars get driven about 500-1000 miles a year max.

I street race.... A LOT. In the spring and summer we sometimes make it out twice a week. And I'll drive pretty far for some races.

Replacing the DSS driveshaft with a modified stock drive shaft and replacing the 3.5” straight through muffler with the valved dual 2.5” muffler will make my M3 so much more enjoyable for DD duty. When the car is driveable, I’m in it when ever it’s not raining. This winter has been more like spring so far and I totally miss driving it.

This right here is what I try to maximize as well and even though my M3 is my weekend car I'd like it to be as close to stock comfort with supercar like performance. The expression you have to pay to play certainly comes to mind. Also you can have a fast car, a reliable car or cheap car...pick two.

Having two E36's affords the luxury of enjoying both a fast car and a fun car.
