"Standard" Driver seat on my 98 2.8 Z is in need of significant upholstery work, although all movements work fine. I would like more support and so would like to change to Sport seat, if it can be done without too much financial pain.
I see a driver side sport seat "cushions only, does not include track/motors, switches or trim" for sale on Ebay.
Does anyone know if (except for replacing the torn leather), these cushions could be directly installed on the existing track/motors, switches and trim for my Standard seats, with no modifications?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Yes they can. I installed sport seats on the tracks of my non-sport seats on my previous Z3 several years ago. They bolt directly to the frames. I also took the opportunity to install seat heating pads, switches as well.
I just picked up Imola seats for my M Roadster and had planned to just swap the cushions over. I know there was a wiring harness split in 4/99 (at least for Ms) and my car is a 4/99 build (seats are from a 2000), so I might get lucky and just bolt in the new seats as is.
Random question: Both seats are perfect except for 2 tiny (maybe 1/8") holes worn into DS bolster. Think a leather shop could fix that up, or should I look for leather? From the photo I thought the bottom had a rip too, but turned out to just be a leaf. Score!

Do you know if this true with the E36 323i convertible model?
I have a 1999 323i vert and it came with standard seats, which were not in great shape. I found a set of sport seats from a European model in great shape. They bolted right in my car but the Euro driver's seat is now my passenger seat and the Euro passenger seat is now my driver's seat.
The wiring harnesses for the airbag and seat occupancy are totally different so I couldn't connect anything. I'm not confident that the airbags will deploy, in the event of a collision.
I still have my old seats so can I use the seat bottom ans seat back cushions from the Euro seats to put on my original seat and back frames? This way I can hook the wiring harnesses back up and my SRS system will be back to normal.
I would appreciate any info on this and if it is possible...maybe a link to directions on how to remove the bottoms and backs??
