    1989 325i: Vibrating under acceleration

Just replaced my clutch and pressure plate and turned my flywheel.
Car vibrating under acceleration but only till about 4000 rpm, I can rev it in neutral with the clutch in or out and it doesnt vibrate. What can be the issue, centre bearing not making a noise, universal joint looks ok. Dont have a muffler on it yet, old one fell off.

    Thanks

First, did you install the flex disk in the proper orientation? Tighten the bolts correctly? Second, did you preload the Center Support Bearing (CSB)? How is the rubber around the CSB? Finally, is everything aligned properly. I struggled with a vibration until I realized the drive line was out of alignment. I ended up using fishing weights hung from strings one on the front of the crank shaft, on on the tail of the transmission, one on the CSB and the last one on the U-joints. Between the motor, transmission mounts and the CSB it was all over the place.

Good luck, vibrations can be a beast to track down. Given you had the drive line apart, that's where I would start.

    No e30s, again :(
And since its not in neutral, its something with the driveline. I say guibo, though

I had a similar problem, vibrating under load, it was the stock CSB flexing, maybe try poly

I would preload the center support bearing as far as it will go, but they say 4-6mm toward the front

ha ha ha, I do that also. I push it by hand and don't measure it and never had a problem with it. that guibo, that sucker shreds out on a standard car and causes vibes and knocking sound once it gets worse.

does it do it only in first and second mostly? under hard acceleration maybe in third? all the times it was a guibo, for me, it really did it in the first two gears regularly
    No e30s again.
