So...yesterday I was rushing and accidentally put motor oil in the ATF system. Now since I have AAA and noticed this instantly I never turned the vehicle on, got it towed home and wondering if I can fix this myself? I saw this thread listed here https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh.../topics/214439 ... stated that I could use a turkey baster to remove all the oil and just refill it. Thoughts?
Thanks guys
I assume you mean you put oil into the power steering system. No biggie. The power steering reservoir only holds a liter or so of fluid. Just suck out all the fluid with a turkey baster and refill with ATF. A little residual oil in there isn't going to hurt anything. In fact, topping it off with a few ounces of motor oil and starting the engine probably wouldn't hurt anything either.

Any good ATF you recommend? Im in oreillys now.
Any synthetic atf would do, Castrol or red Valvoline Maxlife are good choices.

I got the mobile 1 atf
Thanks guys
The E46 power steer system uses Dexron3 or equivalent. I highly recommend that you flush the system and use Redline D4ATF.
