1980 733i no crank

I bought a 1980 733i and it was kind of a barn/garage find. The guy I bought it from said he was previously working on it and he thought it was the starter so I bought it. I bought a new starter and put it in and also a new battery. The cars lights came on but there was no crank. I’m new to bmw’s but I am in love with the late model e23’s. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about engine swapping these types of cars?

is there no crank at all? Or does it crank and no start?
Did you replace the old fuel, clean the tank, checked fuel pump, fuel filter? And if the car was stored a long time even the fuel injectors can be clogged by the old fuel inside the tank.
